Abstract
Disclosed herein are devices and systems that conduct temperature-controlled air through one or more enclosed chambers that are placed adjacent to a patient to help control the patient's temperature without blowing air directly on the patient. In some embodiments, the enclosed chamber has an air inlet and an air outlet and a defined air flow pathway therebetween. Air exiting the device can be directed away from the patient. The flowing air can be any desired temperature to help warm or cool a patient. The patient can be a human or animal, for example.

A patient thermal regulation system, comprising:
- an air-impermeable enclosure comprising flexible air-impermeable enclosure walls, an air inlet, and air outlet, wherein an airflow pathway is defined by the flexible air-impermeable enclosure walls and extends from the air inlet to the air outlet, wherein a first enclosure wall of the flexible air-impermeable enclosure walls defines a patient-side exterior surface of the air-impermeable enclosure and a second enclosure wall of the flexible air-impermeable enclosure walls defines an opposing exterior surface of the air-impermeable enclosure relative to the patient-side exterior surface, wherein the first enclosure wall has a same thickness as the second enclosure wall;
- wherein the patient thermal regulation system is configured to have air flow in through the air inlet, along the airflow pathway, and out through the air outlet, such that heat is transferred through the first enclosure wall between the flowing air and a patient positioned on the patient-side exterior surface of the air-impermeable enclosure.
A patient thermal regulation system, comprising:
- an air-impermeable enclosure comprising flexible air-impermeable enclosure walls, an air inlet, and air outlet, wherein an airflow pathway is defined by the flexible air-impermeable enclosure walls and extends from the air inlet to the air outlet, wherein a first enclosure wall of the flexible air-impermeable enclosure walls defines a patient-side exterior surface of the air-impermeable enclosure and a second enclosure wall of the flexible air-impermeable enclosure walls defines an opposing exterior surface of the air-impermeable enclosure relative to the patient-side exterior surface, wherein the first enclosure wall is made from a same material as the second enclosure wall;
- wherein the patient thermal regulation system is configured to have air flow in through the air inlet, along the airflow pathway, and out through the air outlet, such that heat is transferred through the first enclosure wall between the flowing air and a patient positioned on an exterior surface of the air-impermeable enclosure.
A patient thermal regulation system, comprising:
- an air-impermeable enclosure comprising flexible air-impermeable enclosure walls, an air inlet, and air outlet, wherein a first enclosure wall of the flexible air-impermeable enclosure walls defines a patient-side exterior surface of the air-impermeable enclosure and a second enclosure wall of the flexible air-impermeable enclosure walls defines an opposing surface of the air-impermeable enclosure relative to the patient-side exterior surface, wherein the first enclosure wall is attached to the second enclosure wall via one or more of a heat seal or a radio frequency weld to form a baffle, and wherein a circuitous airflow pathway is defined by the first enclosure wall, the second enclosure wall, and the baffle and extends from the air inlet to the air outlet;
- wherein the patient thermal regulation system is configured to have air flow in through the air inlet, along the circuitous airflow pathway, and out through the air outlet, such that heat is transferred through the first enclosure wall between the flowing air and a patient positioned on the patient-side exterior surface of the air-impermeable enclosure.
