Image processing apparatus, image processing method, and storage medium

A computer-executable image processing method for processing image data obtained by computed tomography (CT) imaging of dentition constituent tissue to generate an image for diagnosis, the method comprising:

• generating, using a processor, three-dimensional image data of said dentition constituent tissue on a basis of said image data;
• detecting, using the processor, a biological feature region in said dentition constituent tissue on a basis of said image data;
• identifying, using the processor, a first position that is a three-dimensional position, at which said biological feature region is present, in a coordinate system of said three-dimensional image data;
• generating, using the processor, a first image, in which said dentition constituent tissue is developed, on a basis of said three-dimensional image data;
• identifying, using the processor, a second position, corresponding to said first position, in said first image;
• generating, using the processor, a second image in which an annotation image, indicating said biological feature region, is superimposed on said first image such that said annotation image is located at said second position;
• generating, using the processor, at least one third image that is detail observation of said dentition constituent tissue at said first position on a basis of said three-dimensional image data;
• and
• displaying said second image and said third image simultaneously on a display.

A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium storing instructions for processing image data obtained by computed tomography (CT) imaging of dentition constituent tissue to generate an image for diagnosis that when executed by a processor causes the processor to implement a method comprising:

• generating three-dimensional image data of said dentition constituent tissue on a basis of said image data;
• detecting a biological feature region in said dentition constituent tissue on a basis of said image data;
• identifying a first position that is a three-dimensional position, at which said biological feature region is present, in a coordinate system of said three-dimensional image data;
• generating a first image, in which said dentition constituent tissue is developed, on a basis of said three-dimensional image data;
• identifying a second position, corresponding to said first position, in said first image;
• displaying, on a display, a second image in which an annotation image, indicating said biological feature region, is superimposed on said first image such that said annotation image is located at said second position;
• generating at least one third image that is a detail observation of said dentition constituent tissue at said first position on a basis of said three-dimensional image data;
• and
• displaying said third image simultaneously with said second image on said display.
