Abstract
The present disclosure provides methods and compositions for dissolving inorganic salt deposits, such as iron sulfide deposits, in aqueous systems. A method may include adding a polycarboxylated β-amino alcohol polymer to the aqueous medium. The polycarboxylated β-amino alcohol polymer may be added by itself or as part of a composition. The composition may optionally include a solvent and/or an additive. The compositions and methods may be used for dissolving typical insoluble inorganic salts encountered in the oil and gas, recovery, water, and processing industries.
Claims20
A method of dissolving an inorganic salt deposit in an aqueous medium, comprising:
- adding a polycarboxylated β-amino alcohol polymer to the aqueous medium, and
- dissolving at least a portion of the inorganic salt deposit.
A polycarboxylated polymer represented by Formula I:
- wherein x is an integer from about 1 to about 10;
- y is an integer from about 0 to about 100;
- R1=CH(COOM)-CH(OH)(COOM);
- R2=H or R1;
- R3=R2 or —(CH2)2—NR1R2;
- z is an integer from about 1 to about 10;
- and M=H, Na, K, or Li.
