Abstract
A scaffold comprising an aligned fiber. Further, a scaffold comprising one or more electrospun fibers wherein a fast Fourier transform (FFT) analysis result of the fibers have adjacent major peaks with about 180° apart from each other. Also, methods for promoting differentiation of stem cells into osteoblasts, chondrocytes, ligament or tendon, the method comprising culturing the cells on the scaffold or aligned fiber in conditions suitable for the cell differentiation.

An implantable scaffold for supporting repair of an injury to soft tissue, comprising:
- a biopolymer sheet including aligned electrospun biopolymer fibers, the biopolymer fibers including collagen and a biodegradable polymer includes at least one of polylactic acid (PLA), poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid) (PLGA), or polyglycolic acid (PGA), the biopolymer fibers not being chemically cross-linked.
A method for producing an implantable biopolymer scaffold, comprising:
- dissolving collagen and a biodegradable polymer including at least one of polylactic acid (PLA), poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid) (PLGA), or polyglycolic acid (PGA) in a solvent to form a biopolymer solution;
- generating biopolymer fibers from the biopolymer solution;
- and
- collecting the biopolymer fibers to form a biopolymer sheet,
- the biopolymer fibers in the biopolymer sheet not being chemically cross-linked.
