Abstract
For ultrasound transducers. graphene, such as flakes or sheets, is used in backers with a matrix of polymer. The graphene provides good attenuation at low frequencies and thermal conductivity.
Claims20
A transducer array system comprising:
- an array of ultrasound transducer elements;
- and
- a backing comprising a polymer framework with one or more sheets of graphene supported by the polymer framework.
A method for forming an ultrasound backing block, the method comprising:
- combining graphene sheets and a polymer;
- and
- curing the polymer, the polymer as cured comprising a support matrix supporting the graphene flakes or sheets.
An ultrasound transducer backing block comprising:
- a matrix of cured polymer, the cured polymer comprising soft polymer;
- and
- graphene in the matrix, the graphene held in place in the matrix by the cured polymer around the graphene, the graphene comprising flakes.
