Abstract
A steering arm return to neutral mechanism for a steering arm pivotable on a shaft between a forward drive position and a reverse drive position. A torsion spring around the shaft has a first leg providing a spring force against a pin extending from the steering arm to pivot the steering arm from the forward drive position back to a neutral position, and a second leg providing a spring force against the pin to pivot the steering arm from the reverse drive position back to the neutral position. A stationary plate is positioned between the first leg and the second leg of the torsion spring.
Claims7
A steering arm return to neutral mechanism, comprising:
- a torsion spring coiled around a pivot axis of a steering arm, said steering arm configured to pivot between forward and reverse drive positions;
- a pivoting pin extending laterally outward from a lower end of the steering arm;
- the torsion spring having a pair of legs, each leg being contacted and moved by the pivoting pin to load the torsion spring and urge the pivoting pin and the lower end of the steering arm to a neutral drive position.
A steering arm return to neutral mechanism, comprising:
- a steering arm pivotable on a shaft between a forward drive position and a reverse drive position;
- a torsion spring around the shaft having a first leg providing a spring force against a pin extending from the pivotable steering arm to pivot the steering arm from the forward drive position back to a neutral position, and a second leg providing a spring force against the pin to pivot the steering arm from the reverse drive position back to the neutral position;
- and
- a stationary plate positioned between the first leg and the second leg of the torsion spring.
