Abstract
A secondary battery, including an electrode assembly, a case that accommodates the electrode assembly, a cap plate coupled to an opening of the case, an electrode terminal in the cap plate, a lead tab electrically connecting the electrode assembly to the electrode terminal, and a reinforcing member between the electrode assembly and the case or between the electrode assembly and the cap plate, the reinforcing member including an insulating member, and a high-melting point material inside the insulating member.
Claims20
A secondary battery, comprising:
- an electrode assembly;
- a case that accommodates the electrode assembly;
- a cap plate coupled to an opening of the case;
- an electrode terminal in the cap plate;
- a lead tab electrically connecting the electrode assembly to the electrode terminal;
- and
- a reinforcing member between the electrode assembly and the case or between the electrode assembly and the cap plate, the reinforcing member comprising:
- an insulating member, and
- a high-melting point material inside the insulating member.
A method for manufacturing a secondary battery, the method comprising:
- preparing an electrode assembly;
- preparing a case;
- electrically connecting a lead tab to the electrode assembly;
- electrically connecting an electrode terminal installed on a cap plate to the lead tab;
- locating a reinforcing member between the electrode assembly and the case or between the electrode assembly and the cap plate, the reinforcing member comprising:
- an insulating member and a high-melting point material inside the insulating member;
- accommodating the electrode assembly in the case;
- and
- connecting the cap plate to an opening of the case.
