Abstract
A brake assembly that includes a brake pad assembly, a sensor unit, and a clip. The brake pad assembly has a table and friction material that extends from the table. The sensor unit is mounted to the table. The clip that straddles the sensor unit, engages the friction material, and is spaced apart from the table.

An installation tool configured to install a sensor unit into a brake assembly, the brake assembly provided with a table and friction material extending from the table and defining a channel, and the sensor unit provided with a first lug, the first lug configured to be at least partially received in the channel to mount the sensor unit to the table, the installation tool comprising:
- a head;
- one or more rods extending from the head and configured to engage the sensor unit, wherein the one or more rods are configured to transfer a force applied to the head to the sensor unit to facilitate insertion of the first lug within the channel.
A method of installing a sensor unit into a brake assembly, the brake assembly provided with a table and friction material extending from the table and defining a channel, and the sensor unit provided with a first lug, the first lug configured to be at least partially received in the channel to mount the sensor unit to the table
- inserting at least one rod of an installation tool into the first lug;
- positioning the installation tool and the first lug into at least a portion of the channel;
- and
- applying a force to the installation tool to insert and seat the first lug within the channel.
- a head configured to be grasped by a user;
- a first arm extending from the head;
- a second arm extending from the head, the first arm and the second arm each having an elongated body and configured for insertion into first and second slots defined by the first lug;
- and
- a first stop member extending from the first arm and configured to engage the friction material when the first lug is disposed in a mounted position within the channel.
