An ablation catheter comprising:
- a catheter shaft including a proximal portion and a distal portion;
- and
- an ablation component comprising:
- a balloon including a proximal end and a distal end, the proximal end coupled to the distal portion of the catheter shaft;
- and
- a plurality of electrodes spaced from another around a circumference of the balloon;
- wherein the ablation component has a coated region and an uncoated region.

An ablation system comprising:
- an ablation catheter comprising:
- a catheter shaft including a proximal portion and a distal portion;
- and
- an ablation component comprising:
- a balloon including a proximal end and a distal end, the proximal end coupled to the distal portion of the catheter shaft;
- and
- a plurality of electrodes spaced from one another around a circumference of the balloon;
- wherein the ablation component has a coated region and an uncoated;
- and
- a generator configured to generate electroporation pulses and transmit the electroporation pulses to the uncoated region to ablate tissue in contact with the uncoated region.
