Abstract
A fuel filter assembly includes a filter housing that forms a cavity, and a center stack. The center stack is positioned within the cavity and includes an axial aperture in the top portion, the axial aperture having a circumferential surface, and a fuel filter. The fuel filter includes a filter center support. The fuel filter also includes a sword positioned along a surface of the filter center support, an end cap, a filter element attached to an undersurface of the end cap, a water separator at a filter base of the fuel filter, and a pin attached to the water separator. When the fuel filter is positioned within the filter housing, the sword engages with a slot of a center stack of the fuel filter housing and the pin aligns with a channel of the housing.
Claims20
A fuel filter assembly, comprising:
- a filter housing having an outer wall defining a cavity;
- a center stack having a base component and a top portion, wherein the center stack is positioned within the cavity of the filter housing and attached to the housing, the center stack having an axial aperture in the top portion, the axial aperture having a circumferential surface;
- and
- a fuel filter that includes:
- a filter center support having a first portion extending along a first axial length, and a second portion extending along a second axial length, and having a first inner contact surface at the first inner diameter;
- a sword positioned along a surface of the filter center support;
- an
- end cap having an undersurface;
- a filter element attached to the undersurface of the end cap;
- a
- wall at a filter base of the fuel filter;
- and
- a pin attached to the wall;
- wherein when the fuel filter is positioned within the filter housing, the sword engages with a slot of a center stack of the fuel filter housing and the pin aligns with a channel of the housing.
A method of installing a fuel filter into a filter housing, the method comprising:
- positioned the filter within the filter housing;
- engaging a sword with a slot of a center stack of the fuel filter housing;
- and
- aligning the pin with a channel of the housing when the sword is aligned with the slot.
A fuel filter, comprising:
- a filter center support having a first portion extending along a first axial length, and a second portion extending along a second axial length, the first portion having a first inner diameter that is greater than a second inner diameter of the second portion, and having a first inner contact surface at the first inner diameter;
- an annular surface extending from the first portion to the second portion;
- a
- sword positioned along the annular surface;
- an end cap;
- a filter element attached to an undersurface of the end cap;
- a water separator at a filter base of the fuel filter;
- and
- a pin attached to the water separator;
- wherein the fuel filter is positioned within a filter housing using the sword.
