Intelligent ai/ml based connectionless routing in oran architecture for mobile and iot devices

A non-transitory machine-readable medium comprising executable instructions that, when executed by a processing system including a processor, facilitate performance of operations, the operations comprising:

• obtaining first data identifying first operating conditions of a terrestrial wireless communications network;
• obtaining second data identifying second operating conditions of a satellite communications network;
• obtaining third data that characterizes a plurality of communication devices, wherein the plurality of communication devices comprise a first communication device and a second communication device;
• inputting the first data, the second data, and the third data into an artificial intelligence (AI) mechanism;
• obtaining from the AI mechanism a first recommended communication channel for the first one of the communication devices, wherein the first recommended communication channel is carried via the terrestrial wireless communications network;
• obtaining from the AI mechanism a second recommended communication channel for the second one of the communication devices, wherein the second recommended communication channel is carried via the satellite communications network;
• providing, to an rApp, an xApp, or a combination thereof, an identification of the first recommended communication channel and an identification of the second recommended communication channel, wherein the identifications are used by the rApp, the xApp, or the combination thereof to facilitate:
• a first change in a first recorded node latency value from a first higher number to a first lower number and a second change in a second recorded node latency value from a second lower number to a second higher number, wherein the first and second changes result in carrying of first traffic via the terrestrial wireless communications network;
• and
• a third change in a third recorded node latency value from a third higher number to a third lower number and a fourth change in a fourth recorded node latency value from a fourth lower number to a fourth higher number, wherein the third and fourth changes result in carrying of second traffic via the satellite communications network.

A method comprising:

• obtaining, by a processing system including a processor, first information that characterizes first operating parameters of a terrestrial wireless communications network;
• obtaining, by the processing system, second information that characterizes second operating parameters of a satellite communications network;
• obtaining, by the processing system, third information that characterizes a communication device;
• applying, by the processing system, the first information, the second information, and the third information to an artificial intelligence (AI) process, wherein the AI process outputs a recommended communication channel for the communication device;
• and
• sending, by the processing system, an identification of the recommended communication channel to an rApp, an xApp, or a combination thereof, wherein the identification is used by the rApp, the xApp, or the combination thereof to facilitate a change in a first recorded node latency value from a first higher number to a first lower number and a change in a second recorded node latency value from a second lower number to a second higher number;
• wherein, in a first case that the communication device is not currently communicating via the satellite communications network but is currently communicating via the terrestrial wireless communications network, the change in the first recorded node latency value and the change in the second recorded node latency value cause the communication device to begin to communicate via the satellite communications network;
• and
• wherein, in a second case that the communication device is not currently communicating via the terrestrial wireless communications network but is currently communicating via the satellite communications network, the change in the first recorded node latency value and the change in the second recorded node latency value cause the communication device to begin to communicate via the terrestrial wireless communications network.
