Abstract

The invention relates to a method for a UWB device of a vehicle. The method includes: receiving, by a control unit, a plurality of channel impulse responses of a UWB device of a vehicle, wherein the plurality of channel impulse responses are each received at different points in time and each have amplitude values that are specific to successive distance values; applying, by the control unit, a filter to the plurality of channel impulse responses to obtain a plurality of filtered channel impulse responses, wherein at least one filter parameter of the filter is designed as a function of a gradient of the amplitude values of the plurality of channel impulse responses; and operating, by the control unit, the vehicle as a function of the filtered channel impulse response.
