Abstract
An encoder includes: an optical first detector configured to detect rotation of a rotation shaft; an optical second detector configured to detect the rotation of the rotation shaft; and circuitry configured to: execute a comparison between a result of detection of the first detector and a result of detection of the second detector; and transmit data including at least the result of detection of the first detector and a result of the comparison.

An encoder comprising:
- an optical first detector configured to detect rotation of a rotation shaft;
- an optical second detector configured to detect the rotation of the rotation shaft;
- and
- circuitry configured to:
- execute a comparison between a result of detection of the first detector and a result of detection of the second detector;
- and
- transmit data including at least the result of detection of the first detector and a result of the comparison.
