Abstract
A wireless model rocket launching system which provides for safety checking and advanced functionality to be performed wirelessly using a mobile communication device such as a cell phone. A set of safety checks can be performed before the rocket is armed and triggered for launch. In addition, a location of the rocket can be tracked wirelessly on the mobile communication device.
Claims25
An apparatus, comprising:
- at least one electronic processor;
- at least one non-transitory computer readable storage medium, storing computer readable instructions, that when executed, cause the at least one electronic processor to:
- wireless communicate between a rocket launcher and a portable communications device, wherein the launcher comprises a circuit configured to test continuity between igniter leads, wherein the continuity test is positive if the circuit is complete and the continuity is negative if the circuit is not complete;
- trigger a first continuity test by the portable communication device;
- and
- upon the first continuity test being positive continue a launch process, and upon the first continuity test being negative terminate the launch process.
A method, comprising:
- establishing wireless communications between a portable communications device and a launcher;
- initiating a first continuity test between igniter leads on a launcher, wherein the first continuity test is positive if a circuit is complete and the continuity is negative of the circuit is not complete;
- and
- requiring the first continuity test as positive to continue a launch process.
A non-transitory computer readable storage medium storing computer readable instructions that when executed, cause at least one electronic processor to:
- establish wireless communications between a portable communications device and a launcher,
- initiate a first continuity test between igniter leads on a launcher, wherein the first continuity test is positive if a circuit is complete and the continuity is negative of the circuit is not complete;
- and
- require the first continuity test as positive to continue a launch process.
