Abstract
A reflective surface for directing wireless communications signals that includes plurality of independently reconfigurable elements disposed irregularly on the surface is disclosed. A method of controlling a communication channel of a wireless communication system that includes the reflective surface having an irregular element arrangement is also disclosed.

A reflective surface for directing wireless communications signals, the reflective surface comprising:
- a plurality of independently reconfigurable elements disposed irregularly on the reflective surface.
A reflective surface for directing wireless communications signals, the reflective surface comprising:
- a plurality of independently reconfigurable elements disposed on the reflective surface;
- and
- a controller arranged to control a configuration of the plurality of independently reconfigurable elements so that only an irregularly spaced subset of the plurality of reconfigurable elements direct the wireless communications signals.
