Intelligent inert measurement mode

A gas detector comprising:

• a sensor configured to detect oxygen content in ambient air;
• an alarm communicatively coupled to the sensor;
• and
• a processor communicatively coupled to the sensor and the alarm, wherein the processor is configured to:
• receive a first indication of a first location of the gas detector corresponding to an inert working zone;
• determine if detected oxygen content in the first location is outside at least one of a first threshold or a second threshold;
• in response to determining that the detected oxygen content is outside at least one of the first threshold or the second threshold, activate the alarm;
• receive a second indication of a second location of the gas detector corresponding to a normal working zone;
• deactivate the alarm based on the received second indication;
• and
• automatically switch a mode of operation of the gas detector between an inert operation mode to a normal operation mode, based on the detected oxygen content, the first indication, or the second indication.
