Abstract

A system for processing user input includes an input device, an input processing unit, a high-latency subsystem, a low-latency subsystem, input processing unit software for generating signals in response to user inputs, and an output device. The low-latency subsystem processes signals corresponding to at least some events and generates corresponding programmable low-latency output, the programmable output being based, at least in part, on state information being maintained by the high-latency subsystem. The high-latency subsystem processes signals corresponding to at least some events, and generates corresponding output, the output of the high-latency subsystem being higher latency than the output of the low-latency subsystem with respect to a given event.

Dependent claims

A system for processing user input, comprising:

an input device configured to receive one or more user inputs;
a low-latency subsystem configured to receive the one or more user inputs and to generate at least one low-latency response in response to at least one of the one or more user inputs;
a high-latency subsystem configured to receive the at least one low-latency response from the low-latency subsystem, and to generate at least one high-latency response in response to the at least one low-latency response;
and
an output device operatively connected to each of the low-latency subsystem and the high-latency subsystem, the output device configured to output the low-latency response and the high latency response;
wherein the low-latency subsystem generates the low-latency response with low latency relative to the high-latency subsystem and the high-latency subsystem generates the high-latency response with high latency relative to the low-latency subsystem.
