Apparatus and method for estimating life of battery

An apparatus for estimating a life of a battery, the apparatus comprising:

• a capacity measurement unit configured to measure capacities of the battery based on a plurality of different temperatures and a plurality of different currents;
• a reference capacity selection unit configured to select a reference capacity of the battery based on a reference temperature and a reference current;
• a compensation value deriving unit configured to apply the reference capacity to each of the measured capacities of the battery to derive compensation values with respect to the plurality of different temperatures and the plurality of different currents;
• a current integration unit configured to identify a start extant capacity of the battery at start of use of the battery, integrate the currents of the battery in a use time of the battery, correct the integration current to at least one of the compensation values, and identify an end extant capacity of the battery at end of the use of the battery;
• and
• a battery life calculation unit configured to obtain the life of the battery based on the start extant capacity of the battery, the end extant capacity of the battery, and the corrected integration current.
