Abstract
The present disclosure relates to an improved, efficient, scalable process to prepare intermediate compounds, such as 2-isopropyl-4-methylpyridin-3-amine, useful for the synthesis of compounds, such as Compound 9, for the treatment of KRAS G12C mutated cancers.

A method for making a compound of Formula (9):
- the method comprising:
- a) making a compound of formula 2A
- by reacting a mixture comprising a compound having the structure
- with palladium in the presence of hydrogen in a solvent;
- and
- b) making the compound with the structure
- by reacting a mixture comprising Pd(PPh3)Cl2, 2-chloro-4-methylpyridin-3-amine, and 4,4,5,5-tetramethyl-2-(prop-1-en-2-yl)-1,3,2-dioxaborolane.
