Apparatus for boxing roll packed mattress

An apparatus for boxing a roll packed mattress for shipment, said apparatus comprising:

• a first section comprising a movable picker actuator having a picker plate with suction cups to transport a flattened box to a transfer location;
• a movable transport actuator comprising a transport plate with suction cups for gripping a bottom surface of the flattened box at the transfer location, the transport actuator being movable underneath the flattened box;
• an erector actuator comprising an erector plate and suction cups for gripping a top surface of the flattened box adjacent to the picker plate above the flattened box;
• wherein the first section further comprises a first controller for disengaging the picker actuator from the flattened box and returning the picker actuator to its home position, raising the erector plate of the erector actuator while the transport actuator remains stationary to erect the flattened box into an erected box, folding closed vertical box flaps of the erected box, folding top and bottom flaps of the erected box outside the closed vertical box flaps to create a partially closed, untaped, erected box, moving the partially closed, untaped, erected box downstream past a tape dispenser to tape the top and bottom flaps of the untaped, erected box together to a create a partially closed box, disengaging the transport actuator from the partially closed box and returning the transport actuator to its home position and moving the partially closed box to a mattress loading station;
• a second section of the apparatus comprising the mattress loading station for inserting a roll packed mattress into the partially closed box to create a loaded box having an open end, a lift table to lift the loaded box to a standing position and a second controller for controlling a lift mechanism including the lift table;
• a third section of the apparatus comprising an upper tape assembly and a lower tape assembly controlled by a third controller for converting a closed box into a finished box.

An apparatus for boxing a roll packed mattress for shipment, said apparatus comprising:

• a first section comprising a movable picker actuator having a picker plate with suction cups to transport a flattened box to a transfer location;
• a movable transport actuator comprising a transport plate with suction cups for gripping a bottom surface of the flattened box at the transfer location;
• an erector actuator comprising an erector plate and suction cups for gripping a top surface of the flattened box adjacent to the picker plate above the flattened box;
• wherein the first section further comprises a first controller for disengaging the picker actuator from the flattened box and returning the picker actuator to its home position, raising the erector plate of the erector actuator while the transport actuator remains stationary to erect the flattened box into an erected box;
• a second section of the apparatus comprising a mattress loading station for inserting a roll packed mattress into the partially closed box to create a loaded box having an open end, a lift table to lift the loaded box to a standing position and a second controller for controlling a lift mechanism;
• and
• a third section of the apparatus comprising an upper tape assembly and a lower tape assembly controlled by a third controller for converting a closed box into a finished box.
