A heater for a single crystal furnace, comprising:

• a heating cylinder comprising a cylindrical structure arranged around a crucible in the single crystal furnace;
• and
• an electrode footplate comprising:
• a first electrode footplate supporting one side of the heating cylinder, wherein the first electrode footplate is configured to connect to a first electrode of a power supply;
• and
• a second electrode footplate supporting another side of the heating cylinder, wherein the second electrode footplate is configured to connect to a second electrode of the power supply
• wherein a ratio of a resistance of the heating cylinder to a resistance of the electrode footplate is greater than 85:15.

A single crystal furnace, comprising:

• a furnace body, and
• a heater comprising:
• a heating cylinder comprising a cylindrical structure arranged around a crucible in the single crystal furnace;
• and
• an electrode footplate comprising:
• a first electrode footplate supporting one side of the heating cylinder, wherein the first electrode footplate is configured to connect to a first electrode of a power supply;
• and
• a second electrode footplate supporting another side of the heating cylinder, wherein the second electrode footplate is configured to connect to a second electrode of the power supply,
• wherein a resistivity of a material of the electrode footplate is less than a resistivity of a material of the heating cylinder.
