Primer compositions for preparing a polymer surface for solvent cement bonding comprising a thickener and a solvent component.

A primer composition for preparing a polymer surface for solvent cement bonding, the primer composition comprising:
- a solvent component that is capable of softening the polymer surface;
- a solvent-soluble thickener in an amount of about 0.5-6 wt %, based on the total weight of the primer composition,
- wherein the primer composition has a viscosity of about 10-65 cps as measured according to ASTM D1084, Method B.
A method of making a primer composition for preparing a polymer surface for solvent cement bonding, comprising combining (i) a solvent component that is capable of softening the polymer surface, and (ii) a solvent-soluble thickener in an amount of about 0.5-6 wt %, based on the total weight of the primer composition,
- wherein the primer composition has a viscosity of about 10-65 cps as measured according to ASTM D1084, Method B.
