Abstract
The disclosure relates to a seat for a vehicle, the seat comprising a seating portion for supporting a lower body of an occupant of the seat, and a leg rest for supporting the legs of the occupant, the leg rest being attached to the seating portion, wherein the seat comprises at least one force absorbing element configured for at least partially absorbing a force exerted by the legs of the occupant on the leg rest in the event of a collision of the vehicle.
Claims20
A seat for a vehicle, the seat comprising a seating portion for supporting a lower body of an occupant of the seat, and a leg rest for supporting the legs of the occupant, the leg rest being attached to the seating portion, wherein the seat comprises at least one force absorbing element configured for at least partially absorbing a force exerted by the legs of the occupant on the leg rest in the event of a collision of the vehicle.
A vehicle comprising:
- a seat comprising a seating portion for supporting a lower body of an occupant of the seat, and a leg rest for supporting the legs of the occupant, the leg rest being attached to the seating portion, wherein the seat comprises at least one force absorbing element configured for at least partially absorbing a force exerted by the legs of the occupant on the leg rest in the event of a collision of the vehicle.
A seat assembly for a vehicle, comprising:
- a seating structure including a seating portion configured to support a lower body of an occupant;
- a leg support structure coupled to the seating portion and configured to support legs of the occupant in an extended position;
- an attachment assembly mechanically coupling the leg support structure to the seating structure, the attachment assembly comprising:
- a movable interface comprising a first attachment member and a second attachment member configured to translate relative to one another along a predefined path;
- and
- at least one energy absorption mechanism operatively positioned between the first and second attachment members and configured to at least partially deform in response to an impact force transmitted from the leg support structure toward the seating structure during a collision event,
- wherein the energy absorption mechanism is configured to permit controlled rearward movement of the leg support structure relative to the seating portion within a defined displacement range in response to a force exceeding a threshold magnitude.
