Abstract
A system for detecting occupancy in a target space includes a radio frequency (RF) signal generator, a wireless communication device detector, a memory unit, an occupancy signal generator, and a load control device. The RF signal generator emits signals that trigger responses from wearable communication devices within a predefined space. The wireless communication device detector detects these response signals. The memory unit stores identification information of the wearable communication devices, derived from the response signals. The occupancy signal generator determines occupancy status based on the detected response signals. The load control device controls power delivered to an electrical load in response to the occupancy signal generation.

A system for detecting occupancy in a target space, comprising:
- a radio frequency (RF) signal generator configured to emit RF signals triggering response signals from wearable communication devices physically located within a target predefined space;
- a wireless communication device detector configured to detect the response signals;
- a memory unit configured for storing identification information of the wearable communication devices, the identification information being derived from the response signals;
- an occupancy signal generator configured to determine an occupancy status based on the response signals detected by the communication device detector;
- and
- a load control device configured for controlling an amount of power delivered to an electrical load in response to an occupancy signal generation by the occupancy signal generator.
A method for detecting occupancy in a target space, comprising:
- emitting radio frequency (RF) signals configured to trigger response signals from wearable communication devices physically located within a target predefined space;
- detecting the response signals using a wireless communication device detector;
- determining identification information of the wearable communication devices from the response signals;
- storing the identification information;
- determining an occupancy status based on the detected response signals;
- and
- controlling power delivered to an electrical load in response to the determined occupancy status.
