Abstract
A networking device, system, and method of operating a networking device are provided. The illustrative networking device is disclosed to include one or more physical ports, an emulated switch positioned between the one or more physical ports and a host device, and one or more emulated devices positioned between the emulated switch and the one or more physical ports. The one or more emulated devices may be configured to populate the one or more physical ports.

A device, comprising:
- a processor;
- and
- an interface that, when executed by the processor, controls which of a plurality of emulated devices are associated to a physical port and exposed to a host device.
A device, comprising:
- a processor;
- and
- memory coupled with the processor, wherein the memory comprises instructions that, when executed by the processor, enable the processor to:
- associate an emulated device to a port;
- transmit a control signal that causes the emulated device associated with the port to emulate a hotplug action to a host;
- and present one or more capabilities of the port to the host through the emulated device.
