Abstract
Methods are disclosed for treating neurodegenerative disorders, such as ALS and FTD by using an effective amount of a type I protein arginine methyltransferase (Type I PRMT) inhibitor to decrease cellular toxicity caused by dipeptide repeat proteins (DRPs).
Claims22
A method of decreasing cellular toxicity caused by dipeptide repeat proteins (DRPs), comprising contacting the cell with an effective amount of a type I protein arginine methyltransferase (Type I PRMT) inhibitor, wherein the inhibitor is a compound selected from the list of compounds in Table 1.

A method of decreasing cellular toxicity caused by GR and/or PR DRPs, comprising contacting the cell with an effective amount of the Type I PRMT inhibitor, wherein the inhibitor is a compound selected from the list of compounds in Table 1 or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt or derivative thereof.
A method of treating a neurodegenerative disease associated with the expression of DRPs in a subject, comprising administering an effective amount of a Type I PRMT inhibitor, wherein the inhibitor is a compound selected from the list of compounds in Table 1.
