Abstract
A composition has at least one self tanning agent and certain sphingolipids and/or certain sphingoid bases. Cosmetic formulations having the composition with at least one self tanning agent, certain sphingolipids and/or certain sphingoid bases enhance a self tanning effect of a self tanning agent or find application in cosmetic products for tanning of a human skin.

A composition, comprising:
- A) at least one self tanning agent,
- B) at least one sphingolipid of a general formula I
- wherein
- R1 is H, phosphocholine, serine, ethanolamine or a sugar,
- X is CH═CH, CH2—CH2 or CH2—HCOH, and
- n is selected from an integer from 3 to 8,
- and/or
- C) at least one sphingoid base selected from the group consisting of N-acetylphytosphingosine, phytosphingosine, sphingosine and sphinganine.

- wherein
- R1 is H, phosphocholine, serine, ethanolamine or a sugar,
- X is CH2—HCOH, and
- n 6,
- or wherein
- R1 is H, phosphocholine, serine, ethanolamine or a sugar,

- enhancing the self tanning effect of a self tanning agent by the at least one sphingolipid of the general formula I
- wherein
- R1 is H, phosphocholine, serine, ethanolamine or a sugar,
- X is CH═CH, CH2—CH2 or CH2—HCOH, and
- n is an integer from 3 to 8,
- and/or
- by the at least one sphingoid base selected from the group consisting of N-acetylphytosphingosine, phytosphingosine, sphingosine and sphinganine.
