Cell handover method and apparatus

A cell handover apparatus, comprising:

• a transceiver configured to receive a handover command from an access network device, wherein the handover command indicates the apparatus to perform handover from a source cell group to a target cell group, and the source cell group and the target cell group each comprise one or more cells;
• and
• a processing system, coupled with the transceiver, configured to:
• based on configuration information of the source cell group and configuration information of the target cell group, cancel a triggered first buffer status report (BSR) and/or delete a data packet corresponding to a first hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) process, wherein the first BSR is all or a part of BSRs triggered by the apparatus in the source cell group, and the first HARQ process is all or a part of HARQ processes of the apparatus in the source cell group;
• and perform handover to the target cell group based on the handover command.

A cell handover method, comprising:

• receiving, by a terminal device, a handover command from an access network device, wherein the handover command indicates the terminal device to perform handover from a source cell group to a target cell group, and the source cell group and the target cell group each comprise one or more cells;
• canceling, by the terminal device, all triggered buffer status reports (BSRs);
• performing, by the terminal device, handover to the target cell group based on the handover command;
• and
• triggering, by the terminal device, a BSR based on a handover behavior of the terminal device.
