Abstract
This application provides a communication method and apparatus. First information for determining redundancy of a PDU set by an access network device may be carried in a data packet belonging to a protocol data unit set, that is, the first information is carried in the data packet. This enables dynamic determination of the redundancy of the PDU set, allowing for more flexible adaptation to redundancy determination in a wider range of scenarios, and also saves resources required for transmitting the first information. In addition, the access network device may send some data packets in a plurality of data packets based on the redundancy of the PDU set, thereby saving air interface resources.
Claims20
A communication method, comprising:
- receiving, by an access network device, a plurality of data packets belonging to a protocol data unit set, wherein a first protocol layer header of at least one data packet in the plurality of data packets comprises first information, and the first information is for determining redundancy of the protocol data unit set by the access network device;
- and
- sending, by the access network device, M data packets in the plurality of data packets, wherein M is determined based on the redundancy of the protocol data unit set.
A communication method, comprising:
- receiving, by a user plane network element, a plurality of data packets belonging to a protocol data unit set;
- and
- adding, by the user plane network element, first information to a first protocol layer header of at least one data packet in the plurality of data packets, and sending the plurality of data packets to an access network device, wherein the first information is for determining redundancy of the protocol data unit set.
A communication method, comprising:
- generating, by a policy control network element, a policy and charging control rule, wherein the policy and charging control rule indicates an access network device to determine redundancy of a protocol data unit set based on a first protocol layer header of a data packet from a user plane network element;
- and
- sending, by the policy control network element, the policy and charging control rule to a session management network element.
