Abstract
Livestock movement monitoring system and method of use are disclosed herein. An example method includes receiving output from each of a plurality of sensors that are associated with livestock in a confined area, tracking a position and movement of the livestock from the output, determining at least one deviation from an expected parameter using the position and movement, and transmitting an alert to a recipient when the at least one deviation has been determined.
Claims20
A method comprising:
- wirelessly receiving a location output from a livestock sensor attached to a livestock animal and wirelessly receiving a unique identifier of the livestock animal;
- determining an expected parameter related to the livestock animal based on the location output received and a time of the location output, wherein the expected parameter comprises an expected distance traveled by the livestock animal over a period of time;
- monitoring the location output and the time of the location output in relation to the expected parameter and determining that a distance traveled by the livestock animal over the period of time is less than a predetermined threshold of the expected distance traveled by the livestock animal over the period of time;
- and
- based on determining that the distance traveled by the livestock animal over the period of time is less than the predetermined threshold of the expected distance traveled by the livestock animal over the period of time, transmitting an alert, which includes the unique identifier of the livestock animal, to a recipient of a possible health concern with the livestock animal.
A system comprising:
- a processor;
- and
- a non-transitory memory that stores instructions, wherein the instructions cause the processor to:
- wirelessly receive a location output from a livestock sensor attached to a livestock animal and wirelessly receive a unique identifier of the livestock animal;
- determine an expected parameter related to the livestock animal based on the location output received and a time of the location output, wherein the expected parameter comprises an expected distance traveled by the livestock animal over a period of time;
- monitor the location output and the time of the location output in relation to the expected parameter and determine that a distance traveled by the livestock animal over the period of time is less than a predetermined threshold of the expected distance traveled by the livestock animal over the period of time;
- and
- based on the determination that the distance traveled by the livestock animal over the period of time is less than the predetermined threshold of the expected distance traveled by the livestock animal over the period of time, transmit an alert, which includes the unique identifier of the livestock animal, to a recipient of a possible health concern with the livestock animal.
