Abstract
Devices and methods for providing and dispensing opposables onto slides are provided in which magazines loaded with opposables include retention arms to reduce movement of the opposables during shipment and processing and to reduce or eliminate contamination.
Claims22
A magazine for dispensing opposables onto slides, the magazine comprising:
- a magazine floor;
- a wall portion protruding from the magazine floor and forming a bay at least partially laterally surrounding a stack of opposables;
- a guidepost protruding from the magazine floor and positioned along a lateral side of the stack of opposables;
- and
- a retention arm protruding from the magazine floor and positioned proximate the guidepost along the lateral side of the stack of opposables, the retention arm having—
- a proximal end in connection with the magazine floor, and
- a joint, wherein connection of the guidepost to the magazine floor is within the proximal end of the retention arm and the guidepost is configured to contact the lateral side of the stack of opposables in the bay, and wherein a portion of the retention arm is bendable proximate the joint to release one opposable of the stack of opposables from the bay.
4 more elements
A magazine for holding a stack of opposables, comprising:
- a bay structure including:
- a magazine floor,
- a wall portion coupled to the magazine floor, and
- a holding area formed by the magazine floor and the wall portion, wherein the wall portion is configured to at least partially surround the stack of opposables at the holding area;
- a guidepost connected to the bay structure and positioned along a lateral side of the stack of opposables;
- and
- a retention arm movable relative to the stack of opposables between a stack-engagement state and a retracted state, the retention arm including—
- an upper end with an overhanging portion configured to extend across a flat portion of an uppermost surface of the stack of opposables when the retention arm is in the stack-engagement state, and
- a lower end connected to the bay structure such that the overhanging portion moves laterally away from the holding area when the retention arm moves from the stack-engagement state to the retracted state.
6 more elements
A magazine for holding an opposable, the magazine comprising:
- a magazine floor;
- a dispensing end wall coupled to the magazine floor;
- an alignment end wall coupled to the magazine floor, the alignment end wall spaced apart from the dispensing end wall;
- a first side wall that is substantially perpendicular to the alignment end wall and to the dispensing end wall;
- a second side wall that is substantially perpendicular to the alignment end wall and to the dispensing end wall, wherein the dispensing end wall, the alignment end wall, the first side wall, and the second side wall form a holding bay for holding an opposable;
- and
- at least one retention arm having—
- a proximal end coupled to the magazine floor, the at least one retention arm, and
- a bendable region to release the opposable from the holding bay.
6 more elements
A magazine for holding opposables, the magazine comprising:
- a magazine floor;
- a plurality of walls extending from the magazine floor and defining a bay therebetween for holding a stack of opposables in which a topmost opposable of the stack of opposables includes:
- a first edge,
- a second edge, and
- a generally linear portion that extends across a width of the topmost opposable between the first edge and the second edge;
- a guidepost extending from the magazine floor and configured to contact a side of the stack of opposables;
- and
- a retention arm having
- a proximal end connected to the magazine floor, and
- an overhanging distal portion with a contact surface configured to contact the generally linear portion of the topmost opposable while the retention arm, when in a resting state, restricts movement of the stack of opposables relative to the magazine.
