Abstract
A sample storage and retrieval system including at least one sample tube having at least one peripheral wall forming an opening, a cavity in communication with the opening and a cap configured to engage the at least one peripheral wall and close the opening. And a sample transport including a frame, a gripper drive unit connected to the frame, and a sample tube gripper connected to the gripper drive unit, the sample tube gripper being configured to transport the at least one sample tube through engagement with the at least one sample tube within the bounds of the at least one peripheral wall.
Claims18
A sample storage and retrieval system comprising:
- at least one sample tube having at least one peripheral wall forming an opening, a cavity in communication with the opening and a cap configured to engage the at least one peripheral wall and close the opening;
- and
- a sample transport including a frame, a gripper drive unit connected to the frame, and a sample tube gripper connected to the gripper drive unit, the sample tube gripper being configured to transport the at least one sample tube through engagement with the at least one sample tube within the bounds of the at least one peripheral wall.
A sample tube transport system comprising:
- a frame;
- a drive unit connected to the frame;
- and
- a sample tube gripper connected to the frame, the sample tube gripper including at least one sample tube gripping member having a sample tube interface configured for gripping and holding a sample tube within the bounds of at least one peripheral wall of the sample tube;
- wherein the drive unit is connected to the sample tube gripper and is configured so as to effect movement of the at least one sample tube gripping member so that a sample tube held by the at least one sample container gripping member is transported through engagement with the sample tube within the bounds of the at least one peripheral wall.
