Abstract
Sorbent cartridges having a flow control insert to improve the functional capacity of a sorbent cartridge is provided. Flow control inserts can include a plurality of flow channels filled with sorbent material through which fluid to be regenerated can travel in the sorbent cartridge.
Claims20
A dialysate system comprising:
- a first sorbent module located in a dialysate flow path,
- wherein the first sorbent module comprises:
- a flow control insert comprising a plurality of flow channels,
- wherein the plurality of flow channels is configured to be filled with at least one sorbent material;
- wherein the flow control insert is configured to distribute fluid flow more efficiently throughout the at least one sorbent material to increase an adsorptive capacity of the first sorbent module.
