Abstract
Smart surgical instrument patches, instruments, systems, and methods. The smart surgical instrument patch may include a flexible substrate with electronic components electronically connected to one another. The electronic components may include one or more sensors, a processor, a power source, and a wireless communication unit. The patch may be affixed to an instrument, such as an inserter for installing an expandable implant. During operation of the instrument, the smart surgical instrument patch may provide real time information to the user, such as amount of implant expansion and lordosis profile.
Claims15
A smart electronic patch comprising:
- a flexible substrate having a top surface and a lower surface with an adhesive;
- and
- a plurality of electronic components affixed to the substrate and electronically connected with one another, the plurality of electronic components includes a plurality of sensors, a processor, a power source, a power regulator, and a wireless communication unit, wherein the plurality of sensors protrude below the lower surface of the substrate and the processor, power source, power regulator, and wireless communication unit are positioned on the top surface of the substrate.
