Abstract
Systems, devices, and methods for controlling cooperative surgical instruments are provided. Various aspects of the present disclosure provide for coordinated operation of surgical instruments accessing a common body cavity of a patient from different approaches to achieve a common surgical purpose. For example, various methods, devices, and systems disclosed herein can enable the coordinated treatment of surgical tissue by disparate minimally invasive surgical systems that approach the tissue from varying anatomical spaces and operate in concert with one another to effect a desired surgical treatment.

(canceled)
A surgical instrument operating within a surgical system, the surgical instrument comprising:
- a processor configured to:
- receive, from a surgical hub with the surgical system, tissue data associated with a first surgical treatment site during a performance of a surgical procedure;
- determine a variable parameter based on the tissue data;
- send a control signal for operation of the surgical instrument based on the determined variable parameter;
- receive, from the surgical hub with the surgical system, updated tissue data associated with a second surgical treatment site gathered during the performance of the surgical procedure;
- update the variable parameter based on the updated tissue data;
- and
- send a second control signal to update the operation of the surgical instrument based on the updated variable parameter.
A surgical hub operating within a surgical system, the surgical hub comprising:
- a processor configured to:
- receive tissue data associated with a first surgical treatment site gathered during a performance of a surgical procedure;
- determine a variable parameter based on the tissue data;
- send, to a surgical instrument within the surgical system, the determined variable parameter to control an operation of the surgical instrument;
- receive updated tissue data associated with a second surgical treatment site gathered during the performance of the surgical procedure;
- update the variable parameter based on the updated tissue data;
- and
- send, to a surgical instrument within the surgical system, the updated variable parameter to update the operation of the surgical instrument.
