Abstract
The devices and methods described herein relate to improved structures for removing obstructions from body lumens. Such devices have applicability in through-out the body, including clearing of blockages within the vasculature, by addressing the frictional resistance on the obstruction prior to attempting to translate and/or mobilize the obstruction within the body lumen.

A device for deployment within a blood vessel, the device comprising:
- a shaft having a distal end and a proximal end;
- a braided cover having an open distal section and a proximal end arranged on the shaft at a location proximal to the distal end of the shaft, wherein the proximal end of the braided cover comprises at least one peak pointing in a proximal direction and at least one valley pointing in a distal direction, wherein the braided cover is configured to self-expand against a wall of the blood vessel;
- and
- a helical coil within the braided cover and configured to conform to a profile of the braided cover.

A device for deployment within a blood vessel, the device comprising:
- a shaft having a distal end and a proximal end;
- and
- a cover configured to self-expand into contact with a wall of the blood vessel, the cover including:
- a mesh structure having an open distal section and a proximal end arranged on the shaft at a location proximal to the distal end of the shaft, wherein the proximal end of the mesh structure comprises at least one peak pointing in a proximal direction and at least one valley pointing in a distal direction, and
- a helical coil inside the mesh structure and configured to conform to a shape of the mesh structure.
