Abstract
Provided is a method for treating musculoskeletal atrophy in patients suffering from a neurological or neuromuscular disease or disorder by combining testosterone replacement therapy with neuromuscular electrical stimulation of multiple muscle groups and, optionally, physical activity.
Claims24
A method for treating musculoskeletal deterioration during treatment or recovery of a subject afflicted with a neurological or neuromuscular injury, disease or disorder, comprising the steps of:
- a) applying testosterone onto said subject;
- a) disposing on said subject surface electrodes for stimulating a plurality of muscle groups;
- and
- c) administering multiple intervention sessions each of which comprises neuromuscular electrical stimulation to said muscle groups.
