Abstract
An energy system can store and provide energy to power a vehicle. The energy system can comprise a generator configured to generate an electrical output, a capacitor configured to receive the electrical output from the generator and store the electrical output as a capacitor energy, a battery configured to receive the capacitor energy from the capacitor, a diode electrically positioned between the capacitor and the battery and configured to convey the capacitor energy from the capacitor to the battery, and a roller configured to contact a wheel of the vehicle and to rotate about an axis in response to a rotation of the wheel to cause the generator to generate the electrical output.

(canceled)
An energy system, comprising:
- a generator configured to generate an electrical output;
- a capacitor configured to receive the electrical output from the generator and store the electrical output as capacitor energy;
- a battery configured to receive the capacitor energy from the capacitor, wherein the capacitor is configured to hold the capacitor energy until a voltage of the battery drops below a voltage threshold, wherein the capacitor is configured to convey the capacitor energy to the battery to support the voltage of the battery;
- a diode electrically positioned between the capacitor and the battery, wherein the diode is electrically biased toward the battery to inhibit battery energy from flowing from the battery to the capacitor;
- and
- a roller configured to rotate in response to rotation of a wheel of a vehicle, wherein the roller is operably coupled to the generator to cause the generator to generate the electrical output.
An energy system, comprising:
- a roller configured to rotate about a roller axis in response to rotation of a wheel of a vehicle, the roller axis non-parallel to a wheel axis about which the wheel rotates;
- a shaft operably coupled to the roller, the shaft is configured to rotate in response to rotation of the roller;
- and
- a generator operably coupled to the shaft, and the generator configured to:
- generate an electrical output based on rotation of the shaft;
- and
- convey the electrical output to an energy storage device or to a motor of the vehicle configured to convert the electrical output to kinetic energy.
An energy system, comprising:
- a roller configured to:
- rotate in response to rotation of a wheel of a vehicle;
- transition between an engaged state and a disengaged state in response to operation of a braking system of the vehicle;
- and
- apply a force to the wheel in the engaged state to decrease rotational velocity of the wheel;
- a shaft configured to rotate in response to rotation of the roller;
- and
- a generator configured to:
- generate an electrical output based on rotation of the shaft;
- and
- convey the electrical output to an energy storage device or to a motor of the vehicle configured to convert the electrical output to kinetic energy.
