Abstract
The invention herein disclosed is a disc-brake caliper shield system that is adjustable so as to fit a variety of disc-brake calipers having different shapes, sizes and hex bolt positions.
Claims3
A disc-brake caliper shield system comprising:
- a caliper shield;
- and
- a pair of adjustable shield-attachment fixtures.
A method of attaching a disc-brake caliper shield system comprising:
- attaching each of two adjustable shield-attachment fixtures to each of two caliper shield flanges using each flange-attachment mounting fixture;
- adjusting each of two interleaved horizontal adjustment fixtures for maximum extension;
- adjusting each of two vertical adjustment fixtures for maximum vertical length;
- placing the disc-brake caliper shield over the disc-brake caliper;
- adjusting horizontal and vertical lengths on each of the two adjustable shield-attachment fixtures such that each hex-bolt attachment collar slips over each hex-bolt head;
- tightening the hex-bolt collars on the hex-bolt heads;
- tightening the vertical length adjustment screws:
- moving the caliper shield such that it straddles the disc-caliper;
- tightening the horizontal length adjustment screws;
- moving the caliper shield in the plane of the disc-brake rotor until it is in desired position;
- and
- tightening the flange-attachment screws.
