• reacting an organic polyol of formula 2 with diketene 3 resulting in the formation of a compound according to formula 4;
• and
• reacting the compound of formula 4 with 1,3-butandiol resulting in the formation of a compound according to formula 5

• wherein z is 0 or more,
• wherein A is derived from an organic polyol with at least 2 hydroxyl groups,
• wherein y is from 2 to the number of hydroxyl groups of the initial organic polyol A, and
• wherein X is
• the process comprising:
• reacting a compound of formula 10 with diketene 3 resulting in the formation of a compound according to formula 11;
• and
• reacting the compound of formula 11 with 1,3-butandiol resulting in the formation of a compound according to formula 12
