Abstract
Provided is a method for reducing the odor of particulate carbon materials and to an odor-reduced particulate carbon material produced from starting materials based on renewable raw materials.
Claims16
An odor-reduced particulate carbon material, produced from starting materials based on renewable raw materials, the odor-reduced particulate carbon material comprising:
- a BET surface area of at least 5 m2/g;
- a content of each of dimethyl sulfide and guaiacol below 1 mg/kg,
- a BET surface area which deviates only by a maximum of 20% from its statistical thickness surface area (STSA),
- a carbon content based on ash-free dry matter of 50 to 80% by mass, and a content of benzo(a)anthracene, chrysene, benzo(b)fluoronathene, benzo(k)fluoroanthene, benzo(a)pyrene, indenol(1,2,3-cd)pyrene, dibenzol(a,h)anthracene, benzene(g,h,i)perylene, benzo(e)pyrene and benzo(j)fluoroanthene of less than 0.1 mg/kg.
