Linked Packet Tracing for Software Load Balancers

A method implemented by a computing device, the method comprising:

• receiving, by the computing device, a client-side packet from a client device;
• exposing, by the computing device, a server identifier of a server of a server system that the client-side packet is to be transmitted;
• generating, by the computing device, based on the server identifier exposed, a packet stream affiliated with the server;
• and
• controlling, by the computing device, capture of one or more server-side packets from the server system via the packet stream.

One or more computer-readable storage media comprising instructions stored that, responsive to execution by a computing device, causes the computing device to perform operations including:

• receiving a client-side packet from a client device;
• exposing a server identifier of a server of a server system that the client-side packet is to be transmitted;
• generating based on the server identifier exposed, a packet stream affiliated with the server;
• and
• controlling capture of one or more server-side packets from the server system via the packet stream.
