Kit, system and method for determining the position of an individual on the surface of the sea

Abstract

A kit (AA, APP) is proposed to determine the geographical position of an individual (P). The kit comprises: an alignment apparatus (AA) capable of being rigidly connected to a magnetic compass (BM) to align a lubber line of the magnetic compass in the direction of the Sun, wherein, when the lubber line of the magnetic compass (BM) is aligned in the direction of the Sun, an angle between the lubber line and the direction of Magnetic North on a horizontal plane indicated by the magnetic indicator of the magnetic compass represents a detection angle of the Sun (αB); a software application (APP) executable by a processing device (PD), the software application being configured to, when executed by the processing device, cause the processing device to determine said geographical position as a function of: said detection angle (αB) of the Sun; an angle of elevation (δ1(t)) of the Sun, and a date (D) and a time (TMG) of measurement of said detection angle (αB) of the Sun and of said angle of elevation (δ1(t)) of the Sun. A system comprising the kit and a corresponding method for determining the geographical position of the individual are also proposed.
