The method 6, further comprising:

• in response to the timer expiring, unmarking the routing information stored in the first inbound RIB by removing the reject flag and releasing the unmarked routing information from the first inbound RIB so that the unmarked routing information is processed by the active BGP process.

The method 6, further comprising:

• in response to the active BGP process having finished processing the routing information stored in the second inbound RIB, unmarking the routing information stored in the first inbound RIB by removing the reject flag and releasing the unmarked routing information from the first inbound RIB so that the unmarked routing information is processed by the active BGP process.

The method 14, further comprising:

• in response to the timer expiring or in response to the active BGP process having finished processing the first routes stored in the first inbound RIB, unmarking the second routes stored in the second inbound RIB by removing the reject flag and releasing the unmarked second routes from the second inbound RIB so that the unmarked second routes can be processed by the active BGP process.
