Abstract
Cured films for forming polymer layers useful in the manufacture of optical devices, particularly optical waveguides, and methods of forming such devices are provided.
Claims9
A cured film prepared from polymerizing and curing a composition comprising:
- (a) one or more curable cyclobutarene-based polymers or oligomers comprising acid functional pendant groups;
- (b) one or more aromatic epoxy compounds comprising a mixture of glycidyl ethers of aromatic phenols;
- (c) one or more aliphatic epoxy compounds;
- and (d) one or more photoactive compounds.

An optical waveguide wherein the optical waveguide comprises a cured film prepared from polymerizing and curing a composition comprising:
- (a) one or more curable cyclobutarene-based polymers or oligomers comprising acid functional pendant groups;
- (b) one or more aromatic epoxy compounds comprising a mixture of glycidyl ethers of aromatic phenols;
- (c) one or more aliphatic epoxy compounds;
- and (d) one or more photoactive compounds.
