Abstract
A token-based billing model for delivering server-side rendered applications to remote users. A token represents a right to access a server-side rendered application. Each remote user is associated with one or more tokens. When a given token expires, the set of tokens associated with a user is decremented. The rate at which tokens expire are modulated based on aggregate load across the resources of the server-side rendered application provider, as well as the individual loads attributable to each of the users.
Claims20
A method comprising:
- storing, at a server, tokens associated with a remote user;
- receiving, by the server, a request from the remote user to access content rendered by the server;
- rendering, by the server, the content requested by the remote user;
- monitoring, by the server, consumption of the tokens during rendering of the content;
- adjusting, by the server, a rate of token consumption based on rendering parameters;
- and
- displaying, via a user interface, information related to the tokens and enabling adjustment of the rendering parameters that affect the rate of token consumption.
A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium for tangibly storing computer program instructions capable of being executed by a computer processor, the computer program instructions defining steps of:
- storing tokens associated with a remote user;
- receiving a request from the remote user to access content rendered by a server;
- rendering the content requested by the remote user;
- monitoring consumption of the tokens during rendering of the content;
- adjusting a rate of token consumption based on rendering parameters;
- and
- displaying, via a user interface, information related to the tokens and enabling adjustment of the rendering parameters that affect the rate of token consumption.
A device comprising:
- a processor configured to:
- store tokens associated with a remote user;
- receive a request from the remote user to access content rendered by a server;
- render the content requested by the remote user;
- monitor consumption of the tokens during rendering of the content;
- adjust a rate of token consumption based on rendering parameters;
- and
- display, via a user interface, information related to the tokens and enable adjustment of the rendering parameters that affect the rate of token consumption.
