An ultrasound imaging system (100), method (400) and tangible, non-transitory computer medium are discloses. The ultrasound imaging system includes: an ultrasound imaging device (110) comprising a transducer (202, 310) and a motor (201, 312) for moving the transducer (202, 310); a controller (120) comprising a processor (320) connected to the ultrasound imaging device (110), and adapted to drive the motor (201, 312) of the imaging device (110); a memory (130) that stores instructions, which when executed by the processor (320), cause the processor (320) to: initialize the ultrasound imaging device (110) by applying, to the motor (201, 312), a first drive signal (501) having a magnitude and a sign, and a second drive signal (502) having substantially the magnitude of the first drive signal (501) and an opposite sign to the sign of the first drive signal (501).
