Abstract
Building panels, especially laminated floor panels are shown, which are provided with a locking system and several core grooves at the rear side in order to save material and decrease weight. Building panels, each having a surface layer on a front side, a backing layer on a rear side and an intermediate core, wherein the intermediate core and the surface and the backing layer all comprise wood fibres and thermosetting resins, the building panels are provided with a locking system for vertical and horizontal locking of a first edge of a first building panel to an adjacent second edge of a second building panel.
Claims21
1-3. (canceled)
Floor panels, each floor panel comprising a core,
- wherein the core comprises a plastic material,
- wherein at least two core grooves are provided in a rear side of the floor panels with an opening towards the rear side,
- wherein an area of the rear side is less than about 80% of a surface area of the floor panels, and
- wherein the core grooves are separated by a horizontally extending space, the horizontally extending space being at least about 0.2 times a floor thickness of the floor panels.
The floor panels as claimed in claim 3, wherein the horizontally extending space is about 0.2-1.0 times the floor thickness of the floor panels.
The floor panels as claimed in claim 3, wherein the horizontally extending space is arranged in the rear side of the floor panels.
The floor panels as claimed in claim 3, wherein a core groove depth is at least 0.1 times the floor thickness of the floor panels.
The floor panels as claimed in claim 3, wherein opposing walls of the core grooves comprise a vertically tapering portion, the vertically tapering portion extending along a longitudinal direction of the floor panels and/or along a transverse direction of the floor panels.
The floor panels as claimed in claim 3, wherein at least one core groove is arranged horizontally inside of a horizontally outermost edge portion of the rear side, such that said horizontally outer edge portion provides a lower support surface.
The floor panels as claimed in claim 3, wherein the core grooves extend discontinuously along the rear side.
The floor panels as claimed in claim 3, further comprising a vertical locking system and/or a horizontal locking system for locking adjacent edges of the floor panels.
The floor panels as claimed in claim 3, wherein a groove length of the core grooves is smaller than a distance between locking systems arranged at a pair of opposite edges of the floor panels.
The floor panels as claimed in claim 3, wherein the floor panels are rectangular with long edges and short edges and wherein the core grooves are essentially parallel with the long edges.
The floor panels as claimed in claim 3, wherein the floor panels further comprise a surface layer.
The floor panels as claimed in claim 3, wherein the core comprises a thermoplastic material.
The floor panels as claimed in claim 3, wherein the core comprises a thermosetting resin.
