A method for manufacturing an electrode assembly, the method comprising:

• sequentially stacking a first electrode, a separator, and a second electrode, in which the first electrode including a current collector, a first active material layer, and a second active material layer, each of the first and second active material layers provided on first and second surfaces of the current collector, a first end portion of the first electrode comprises a single-sided coated portion where the first active material layer is provided on the first surface of the current collector and the second active material layer is not provided on the second surface, and an uncoated portion where the first active material layer and the second active material layer are not provided on the first and second surfaces of the current collector;
• and
• positioning a swelling tape over a boundary between the first active material layer of the single-sided coated portion and the uncoated portion.
