Abstract
An apparatus comprising a three-dimensional (3D) drawing pen can permit a user to draw a 3D object in free space that retains its shape against gravity. The 3D drawing pen can include a body, a sensor supported by the body, a motor, and a nozzle assembly disposed at a distal end of the body. The motor can drive material toward the nozzle assembly upon actuation by the sensor. The nozzle assembly can include an extruder and an exit nozzle. The extruder can have a heating element for melting material and permitting the material to be extruded out of the exit nozzle in a solid form upon actuation of the motor by the sensor. The user can manipulate the 3D drawing pen to draw a 3D object that retains its shape against gravity.
Claims20
An apparatus comprising:
- a three-dimensional (3D) drawing pen that is configured to permit drawing in 3D space, the configuration of the 3D drawing pen comprising:
- a housing comprising an internal volume and a port configured for introduction of material into the internal volume;
- a nozzle assembly coupled to the housing and comprising a guide tube, an extruder, and an exit nozzle, the extruder being disposed between the guide tube and the exit nozzle such that the material can be extruded out of the exit nozzle to permit a user to draw in free space to form a solid 3D object that retains its shape against gravity;
- and
- a sensor coupled to the housing and configured to control an operation of the 3D drawing pen.
An apparatus comprising a three-dimensional (3D) drawing pen that includes a body, a sensor supported by the body, a motor, and a nozzle assembly disposed at a distal end of the body, the motor being configured to drive material toward the nozzle assembly upon actuation by the sensor, the nozzle assembly comprising an extruder and an exit nozzle, the extruder having a heating element for melting material and permitting the material to be extruded out of the exit nozzle in a solid form upon actuation of the motor by the sensor to permit a user to draw a 3D object in free space that retains its shape against gravity.
